About Sean A. Blake

Dr. Sean Blake is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hand surgery at The Columbus Hand Institute. A Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Blake also holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

A graduate of Miami University of Ohio with a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Dr. Blake received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. In 2007, he completed his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine training at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he also completed his residency, serving as Co-Chief Resident of Orthopedic Surgery. Following that, Dr. Blake completed a Fellowship in Hand Surgery at the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Before joining the St. Francis-Emory medical staff in 2013, Dr. Blake held positions on the clinical faculty at the University of Buffalo and Ohio University of Osteopathic Medicine. In the field of Physical Therapy, he has served on the faculty of Cuyahoga Community College and as a graduate assistant in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Slippery Rock University. Dr. Blake has also worked as a physical therapist, personal trainer, and an exercise physiologist.

Dr. Blake's research efforts include presentations of findings before the National American Physical Therapy Association and State University of New York, along with publication in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery and the e-journal of the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians. In 1995, Dr. Blake participated in research regarding team performance analysis of the S.W.A.T. Team in Cincinnati, OH.

Other scientific and medical presentations have taken place at Northeast Ohio University College of Medicine, the Cleveland Clinic Foundation's Physical Therapy Department, Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Ursuline College and Upper Extremity Rehabilitation State of the Art.

His long list of presentations to community audiences have covered subjects such as nutrition and exercise, wellness, osteoporosis, football conditioning, cadaver dissection, and hand and wrist overuse injuries.
