Maurizio Buscarini, MD, PhD, MPH‑MBA, is a urologist with more than twenty years of experience caring for patients across the globe. At St. Francis‑Emory Healthcare, he brings a blend of advanced surgical expertise and a deeply human approach to medicine. Dr. Buscarini is known for pairing leading‑edge treatments, including robotic and minimally invasive surgery, with the kind of attentive, personalized care that helps patients feel informed, supported, and confident at every step.

He chose urology for its unique mix of complex surgery, innovative technology, and long‑term patient relationships. Whether treating kidney stones, prostate enlargement, or urologic cancers, he focuses on improving quality of life and helping patients return to the activities they enjoy. Education is central to his practice; many patients are surprised by how much time he dedicates to conversation, ensuring they fully understand their condition and options.

Dr. Buscarini’s career has taken him from academic medicine to humanitarian missions around the world. He has completed more than sixty missions with Doctors Without Borders, serving communities in Syria, Yemen, Gaza, and beyond. Earlier in his life, he served in the Italian Medical Corps, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel at age twenty‑nine. Fluent in English, Spanish, French, Italian, and conversational Arabic, he values communication as a cornerstone of trust.

Outside of work, he enjoys time with family, traveling, boating, writing as he is currently working on his fifth novel and staying active. He is honored to join the Columbus community and is committed to delivering compassionate, world‑class urologic care close to home.
