Karla Avila-Perez, MD

Karla Avila-Perez, MD, MS is an internal medicine physician with St. Francis Primary Care Continuity Clinic, where she provides comprehensive primary care for adult patients. She is dedicated to helping individuals achieve optimal health through preventive medicine, chronic disease management, and personalized treatment plans. Dr. Avila-Perez earned her medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine and completed both her internship and residency training at University of Miami/JFK Medical Center.  

Dr. Avila-Perez is passionate about preventive healthcare, particularly cardiovascular disease prevention, women's health, menopause management, and obesity medicine. She believes that healthcare should be compassionate, evidence-based, and centered around each patient's individual needs and goals. By emphasizing prevention, shared decision-making, and whole-person care, she strives to build long-term relationships with her patients and empower them to take an active role in their health and wellness.  

In addition to providing comprehensive adult primary care, Dr. Avila-Perez has special interests in chronic illness management, preventive medicine, women's health, and weight management. She also performs a variety of in-office procedures to provide convenient, comprehensive care for her patients.  

Outside of medicine, Dr. Avila-Perez enjoys spending time with her husband and their dog, Milo, traveling, exercising, and pursuing continuing education through conferences and professional development opportunities. She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Physicians (ACP), American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), The Menopause Society, The Obesity Society (TOS), and the Obesity Medicine Association (OMA). She is also pursuing certification through the American Board of Obesity Medicine.
