Joseph Eikelberry, MD

Joseph Eikelberry, MD FACOG, has been practicing with OBGYN Associates since 1998. Dr. Eikelberry graduated from Kent State University Magna Cum Laude and Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine with Honors in 1994, having completed a six-year BS/MD program exactly six years to the day after graduating high school. He completed his specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Summa Health in Akron, Ohio in 1998, serving as a Chief Resident in his final year of residency. After his training, Dr. Eikelberry relocated to Columbus to join ObGyn Associates. In 2009, ObGyn Associates joined St. Francis Hospital and has been a part of St. Francis since.Dr. Eikelberry has been Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology since 2000.
In 2012, he was asked to begin teaching for the Mercer University School of Medicine when Mercer opened its Medical School Campus in Columbus. Since that time, He has been very involved with Mercer, having risen to the rank of Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and being named Clinical Dean of Medical Education for the St. Francis campus of the Mercer School of Medicine. He has received numerous teaching awards from his Mercer graduates. If you visit with Dr. Eikelberry in his practice, you quite likely will encounter him mentoring his students. Over the years, Dr. Eikelberry has been actively engaged in medical staff leadership in the Columbus hospitals. In addition to having served as the Chair of the Department of ObGyn and the Chair of the Department of Surgery at St. Francis, he currently chairs the Quality Excellence Committee of St. Francis Hospital.
Dr. Eikelberry has a broad interest in general Obstetrics and Gynecology. He offers a full range of services including ultrasound, wellness exams, infertility, colposcopy, LEEP, hysteroscopy and comprehensive prenatal care. He has a particular interest in vaginal hysterectomy, which is the least invasive surgical approach for removal of the uterus. In his free time, Dr. Eikelberry has become a Second Degree Black Belt in TaeKwonDo, become proficient in wilderness survival skills (he can still make fire without modern equipment) and coached several athletic teams for his now-grown children. He now mainly spends time with his wife Leslie and their fur babies Abby, Sophie and Nappy.
