About Dare Alabi Adewumi

Dr. Adewumi will begin welcoming new patients on May 1, 2026.

He specializes in the surgical and non-surgical management of complex cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine disorders, as well as neurosurgical oncology. His practice includes evaluation and treatment of:

Spine:

  • Degenerative spine disease
  • Cervical and lumbar stenosis
  • Disc herniation and radiculopathy
  • Spondylolisthesis and spinal instability
  • Myelopathy
  • Spinal trauma
  • Epidural abscess and spinal infections
  • Primary and metastatic spinal tumors
  • Revision spine surgery

Neurosurgical Oncology (Brain and Spine Tumors):

  • Intracranial tumors (benign and malignant)
  • Metastatic brain tumors
  • Spinal tumors (intradural/extradural; metastatic)
  • Tumor-related spinal cord compression

Dr. Adewumi has advanced fellowship training in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery as well as neurosurgical oncology and is experienced in managing high-acuity spinal cord compression and complex anterior/posterior cervical pathology. He collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams (radiation oncology, medical oncology, ENT, neuroradiology, and neurocritical care) when needed to optimize safety and outcomes.

His approach emphasizes careful patient selection, clear diagnosis, and selection of the least invasive option that achieves a durable result. Non-operative management is prioritized whenever appropriate, and surgery is recommended only when clearly indicated and expected to meaningfully improve quality of life.

Practice Philosophy:

Neurosurgery requires judgment as much as technical skill.

Dr. Dare Adewumi believes in operating on patients — not imaging alone. Radiographic findings must correlate with symptoms, examination, and functional limitation before surgery is considered.

His philosophy centers on three principles:

  1. Clarity before intervention – A precise diagnosis and appropriate indication are essential.
  2. Simplicity when possible – The safest and most durable solution is preferred over unnecessary complexity.
  3. Decisiveness when necessary – When surgery is indicated, it should be performed with confidence, efficiency, and meticulous attention to detail.

His goal is to provide care that is technically excellent, ethically grounded, and focused on restoring long-term function and quality of life.

Training and Personal Details:

Dr. Adewumi has been practicing neurosurgery since 2014 and is board certified. He completed his medical training at the Medical College of Georgia and neurosurgical residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center, followed by advanced fellowship training at the Swedish Neuroscience Institute and Emory University.

He values clear communication and ensures patients understand both their diagnosis and their treatment options. He is committed to thoughtful decision-making and technical excellence in complex cases.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children, strength training, and following professional football.
