Charles Murrah, MD

Dr. Charles Patrick Murrah has more than 25 years of experience in cardiothoracic surgery, joining St. Francis-Emory Healthcare in January 2026.

As an accomplished cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Murrah treats patients with diseases or injuries in their chest, such as the heart, lungs, and esophagus. He specializes in robotic thoracic surgery, a minimally invasive surgery used in lung cancer cases, as well as hybrid convergent ablation, a minimally invasive procedure for atrial fibrillation.

His experience includes adult cardiac surgery and general thoracic surgery as well.

Dr. Murrah attended medical school and completed his surgical residency at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama. He completed his Residency in Cardiothoracic Surgery and Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Emory University Hospitals, where he also served as a faculty member.
