FemaleAbout Amanda McPherson
Dr. Amanda McPherson is an Athens, Georgia native who found herself in Columbus, when her then active duty psychiatrist husband was stationed at Fort Benning. She fell in love with the area and decided to make Columbus her forever home. Her husband, Kevin, is also now in private practice in Columbus, and they have two children, Charles and Meg.
Dr. McPherson graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. She went on to graduate from Tulane University School of Medicine in 1999. She completed her residency in Memphis at the University of Tennessee Memphis in 2003. Memphis is where she met her husband when he was a medical student.
For four years, Dr. McPherson was in a private practice in Washington, DC while her husband completed his psychiatry residency at Walter Reed Hospital. After his residency, her husband was given PCS orders to Fort Benning. Dr. Amanda McPherson was employed for four years as a GS physician at Martin Army Community hospital before they decided to stay permanently in Columbus. She has been a doctor with St. Francis OBGYN Associates since 2012.
As a board certified OB/GYN, Dr. McPherson has been a fellow in good standing of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists since 2005. She has delivered thousands of babies over the years, and she treasures the privilege of participating in such an important and intimate part of women’s lives. She is a fierce advocate for women and has dedicated her life to improving the health of women in every phase of life. Recently, Dr. McPherson has chosen to focus primarily on gynecological care. She sees women of all ages, performs office procedures, and offers surgical treatment (including minimally invasive surgery) for gynecological conditions. She also specializes in hormone replacement therapy for women including BioTe pellet management.
